Course Name

NCL_SDP48 - X-Ray Techniques

Overview

X-ray diffraction (XRD) is an essential analytical technique to determine the structure and crystalline nature of materials. XRF (X-ray fluorescence) is a non-destructive analytical technique used to determine the elemental composition of materials. This course will acquaint participants with a fundamentals and practical applications of powder diffractometry, followed by a demonstration of XRD analysis techniques. Students will learn how to use crystallographic software for phase and crystal structure analysis, grain size estimation, lattice parameters, lattice strain, substitution/doping analysis, etc, and XRF sample preparation and analysis.
